The Maritime Legacy award celebrates individuals who have made a profound impact on the maritime industry during their career. This year Ray was honoured in this category alongside Dan Hook.
Ray Facey said: “It is hard to comprehend that in September next year it will be 60 years when I first joined the then British Transport Docks Board, as a Junior Trainee.
“The abiding memory I have of working within the port and logistics industry is not only the importance it has for the local and overall UK economy but equally the people who work within it who, in my humble opinion, are the salt of the earth.
“I am very proud greatly honoured to receive this award.”
Stuart Baker, Chief Executive at Maritime Solent, said: “Congratulations to each of our Maritime Solent Award winners. Behind every award is a story of hard work, perseverance and commitment, and it was wonderful to see those achievements recognised by peers from across the industry. Thank you for the contribution you make to our region and to the continued success of the maritime sector.”
