This month at our Southampton operations we hosted the local Hazardous Response Team (HART) for the first of seven training sessions.
We are working with the incident response team to help provide them with a place to train their teams. These sessions will also increase their awareness of our sites and our cranes should we require emergency assistance from them in the future.
For this first session, the trainers created a rescue scenario of an unwell/ unconscious/ injured person a crane. Across the remainder of the visits, all shift groups will have the opportunity to conduct the same training exercise.
The day consisted of:
- Finding the correct access/ anchor points
- Trialling different options of scaling the crane
- Practicing with a stretcher and dummy up and down the crane.
We were pleased to ensure one of our crane drivers was present throughout the training to provide practical insight and experience from an experienced crane driver.
