Solent Stevedores celebrates the strong legacy of one if its long-serving team members, Ray Facey.
Ray was shortlisted in the prestigious Maritime Solent Awards 2025 in the Maritime Legacy category. The impact Ray has had on the lives and careers of many at the Port of Southampton is immeasurable. Many in the industry can attest to his significant role in leading the port’s status within the automotive and cruise sectors to where it stands today.
Ray’s nomination from Clive Thomas and Ian Palacio, as just two people who have worked for, and with, Ray for more than 20 years, is a testament to the significant impact he has had and continues to have on the Port of Southampton. A leader in the Maritime field, Ray’s impact can be felt across the industry and will remain for many more years to come. Ray has been a fantastic mentor to both Clive and Ian, helping them to achieve their potential, they are just two of many who benefited from his kindness and support in leading by example. Ray’s profound impact on the port and the people that have built careers here cannot be overstated – an extremely deserving Finalist.
