Team Solent celebrated a significant award win on 17 October at the Maritime UK Solent Awards 2024 receiving the title of Small Business of the Year.
The Awards, in their third year, showcase the very best of the Solent region’s maritime skill, expertise, knowledge and talent. The Awards evening itself hosted 300 people from the maritime industry representing new and long-established businesses, emerging talent and senior leaders, innovation and technology gamechangers.
Shortlisted and ultimately winners in the Small Business of the Year category, Solent Stevedores was commended by the judging panel for clever diversification, innovation, great support and training for staff and for being a small business in a big business world.
Commercial Director Clive Thomas said: “We are thrilled to win this award – It’s a testament to the all the hard work that goes on by all the employees at Solent Stevedores. We’re a small business with a big heart. It’s been a significant year for us – we’ve invested heavily into expanding our container storage, repair, and rail operations. The development of the new state of the art cement import facility which we hope will help support the region and empower some of the big growth and opportunities that we all face together.
