The team handling London Gateway operations has seen a record-breaking month in January.
Based at the UK’s most advanced integrated container port and logistics hub, the team moved 8,795 boxes in the month with a TEU level of 3940 – the highest numbers in the seven years since operations began. In addition, the 8-acre site provides empty container storage, shunting, maintenance, and repairs. During the month, more than 1,400 boxes were shunted – either between the quay and the yard or to other locations. It is common for boxes to be shunted between the London Gateway depot and the team’s Solent Rail Terminal at the Port of Southampton.
