A charity partnership between Neuroblastoma UK and Solent Stevedores sees £4,000 raised for crucial research into more effective and kinder treatments for children affected by neuroblastoma.
Industry-leading cargo handlers Solent Stevedores selected Neuroblastoma UK as its Charity of the Year following nomination by two members of the Solent Stevedores London team whose family friends have been directly impacted by the disease.
Activities to raise money throughout 2023 across Southampton, Immingham, Jersey, London and Dursley locations include a Bake Off-style competition in London Gateway and company-wide, a silent auction, a scrap heap challenge in Immingham and a staff raffle.
Solent Stevedores has partnered with Neuroblastoma UK to raise money to fund research into discovering new, more effective and kinder treatment for children with neuroblastoma, an aggressive and life-threatening cancer.
Fiona Robson, Managing Director of Solent Stevedores, said: “Being a charity partner for Neuroblastoma UK has been an honour. The team has made some tremendous fundraising efforts across the year and had a lot of fun while doing it. We’re incredibly pleased to present this money to the team at Neuroblastoma and hope it can make a positive impact.”
Neuroblastoma UK’s Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, Zafar Zabbar, said: “On behalf of everyone at Neuroblastoma UK, I would like to thank Solent Stevedores for raising the amazing total of £4,000 for our charity. “Every week in the UK, around two families will be told that their child has neuroblastoma. This total, we help to continue to fund vital research into more effective and kinder treatments for neuroblastoma, and ultimately a cure.”
